Lana wears number 26 in memory of her close friend Tasha Laird, who died from cystic fibrosis at the age of 26. She has also used her platform to share Tasha’s story and raise awareness of the condition alongside Italian rally driver Rachele Somaschini.

Lana co-wrote the autobiographical book Ventisei: Dalla Scozia alla Serie A — Twenty-six: From Scotland to Serie A — with Italian author Valentina Capelli.

Lana reached the 2019 World Cup despite playing with a severely damaged cruciate ligament, with the Scottish federation and medical staff fully aware of her condition.

Before becoming a professional footballer in Italy, Lana worked as a sales assistant and administrator for the builders’ merchant Jewson, whose manager supported her move abroad and offered her the chance to return.

With few opportunities available to young female players, Lana played in boys’ leagues with her local club Methven until she was almost a teenager.

Despite her distinctive hairstyle and extensive tattoos, Lana is naturally quiet, private and extremely humble about her achievements.

Lana loves marking important moments from her life on her skin, which is why she has accumulated so many tattoos.
