Sierra Ann Enge is an American midfielder for RC Strasbourg Alsace in France’s Première Ligue, having previously starred for Stanford Cardinal and San Diego Wave FC and represented the United States at multiple youth national team levels.
She was born in Sun Valley, Idaho, but grew up in the beach community of Cardiff, just north of San Diego, where she first dreamed of playing professionally.
During childhood, her parents encouraged her to “be active and have fun,” so she tried softball, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball and even horseback riding before focusing on football.
Both parents were Harvard athletes: her father Brian played football there, while her mother Ceci played lacrosse.
As a kid Sierra was a big fan of USWNT star Alex Morgan, who later became her teammate at San Diego Wave FC.
At Stanford she earned a B.A. in Science, Technology & Society and an M.A. in Communication while captaining the team, combining academic work in tech and media with top-level college football.
She is a mentor with Female Footballers and Athletes Better Together, and co-hosts Female Footballers’ “Beyond the Game” podcast alongside former Stanford teammate Maya Doms.
She is active with multiple mental-health organisations.
