Emily Gielnik is an Australian footballer who plays as a forward. She has represented Australia at youth and senior level.
She was a late starter by elite-football standards. She has said basketball and rugby were her first loves, and she did not begin playing football until she was 12.
She had to convince her mum to let her play. Gielnik said her mother worried football was too dangerous, even though she had already been playing rugby against boys.
Seeing the Matildas in person changed her direction. She said that after watching Australia train in Coffs Harbour in 2007, she knew at 14 that she wanted to make the team one day.
She has been very open about how hard setbacks have hit her mentally. In a 2024 interview, she said she used yoga, breath work, sauna, ice baths, more time alone and manifesting to rebuild resilience.
She built her own fitness business, Shred Em Fitness, from her garage.
She was enrolled in a Bachelor of Exercise Science while based in Sweden.
She and her wife Temica are expecting a baby in 2026.
