Maricel Pereyra is an Argentine footballer who plays as a midfielder. She has represented Argentina at youth and senior international level.
She is one of the first professional women's footballers in Argentina after signing one of the country's historic first professional contracts in April 2019.
Her senior Argentina debut came against Ecuador on 27 November 2021, entering the match in the 85th minute.
Her sporting background is not limited to football - she won multiple national futsal titles with San Lorenzo before establishing herself in 11-a-side football.
Teammates and media covering San Lorenzo have nicknamed her "la loca del pana" ("the crazy girl of corduroy"), a playful nickname referenced during club interviews.
Missing out on Argentina's 2023 World Cup squad became a turning point in her career. After being told she needed to become more aggressive and improve her passing, she began doing extra individual training sessions to work on those areas.
Despite being known for her personality on the pitch, profiles in Argentina have described her as naturally shy away from football.
