Fridolina Rolfö is a Swedish professional footballer who plays for Manchester United and the Swedish national team.
She speaks Swedish, English, German, and Spanish.
She is engaged to Simon Skott. They became a couple in 2016.
She considers Marta as one of the best female footballers of the time out of many others and Alexia Putellas as one of the best players she played with.
She enjoys playing golf in her spare time.
Before she started making a living from football, she worked in a bank.
She has a younger brother and an older sister, Daniella. It was her sister who introduced her to football when she was five years old.
As a child, she played handball alongside football until the age of 15, when she had to decide which of these sports she wanted to continue with.
Her best friend in the national team is Magdalena Eriksson. They both received their first invitation to the senior A team at the same time in 2014. They also played together in Linköping.
In a football career, change is constant. Teams come and go. And with them, teammates. Moving to a new country only adds another layer, with a new culture, a new language, a new way of life. In moments like that, having someone familiar by your side can make all the difference.
From working shifts at a bank to deciding a Champions League final: Fridolina Rolfö’s journey is anything but ordinary. By the time she signed for Barcelona in 2021 as the club’s first-ever Swedish female player, she was already on an upward trajectory. In Catalonia, she etched her name into history.
A match that underlined United’s shrewd summer recruitment. Tottenham opened the scoring in the 16th minute through a Drew Spence strike, and for a long time it looked as though the match might follow a similar script to last week’s league encounter, when Spurs had led 3–0 at one stage. United, however, emerged reinvigorated after the half-time break and, thanks to their summer signings, managed to turn the game in their favor.
Fridolina Rolfö first set up the equalizer for Jess Park before scoring herself to make it 2–1, a decisive goal that sent United through to the semi-finals. The only concern for the Red Devils was an injury to Ella Toone, who was forced off in the 62nd minute with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.
Fridolina Rolfö scored her first goal for Manchester United as Marc Skinner’s side edged Atletico Madrid 1–0 in a tense Women’s Champions League encounter that saw both teams reduced to ten players.
The Swedish forward, who joined from Barcelona this summer, volleyed home in the 24th minute after timing her back-post run perfectly — her strike sealing United’s second win in as many European games following their opening-round victory over Vålerenga.
Melvine Malard came close to doubling the lead before half-time, but United’s momentum was halted when centre-back Dominique Janssen was sent off. The Dutch defender’s initial yellow card for a sliding challenge on Gio Garbelini was upgraded to red after a lengthy VAR review, with the Atletico winger stretchered off.
Down to ten, United were forced into defensive mode as Atletico peppered their goal, only for goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce to produce several fine saves. The hosts’ pressure ended in frustration when Alexia Fernandez picked up a second yellow card for fouling Leah Galton in the 74th minute.
United regained control late on, with Malard narrowly missing a second goal after a superb solo run. The visitors’ defence — led by captain Maya Le Tissier — held firm under pressure, securing a hard-fought win.
After losing 4-1 to Arsenal, London City Lionesses hosted their first home game in the WSL, where they suffered their second defeat. Manchester United took the lead early on when captain La Tissier converted a penalty.
The match was particularly memorable for Jess Park, who recently joined United from rivals City and scored her first goal for her new club. The assist came from another new signing, Fridolina Rolfö, who came on in the 80th minute and was playing her first game in her new jersey.
Fridolina Rolfö has signed a contract with Manchester United. She is the second Swedish player, alongside Julia Ziggiotti Olme, to join the English club.
