Halimatu Ibrahim Ayinde is a Nigerian midfielder who plays for FC Rosengård in Sweden’s Damallsvenskan and the Nigeria women’s national team.
She described her childhood home as “six boys and two girls,” and said her brothers initially believed football “was meant for boys and not girls.”
Growing up, she played street football mostly with boys and says she sometimes had to hide it from her brothers.
Her go-to way to unwind, in her own words, is simple: relax, eat, drink water, play music, and stop thinking about problems.
She's been doing community outreach to push girls’ grassroots football in Northern Nigeria.
She had to battle two ACL injuries in a 24-month span, calling the second surgery “heartbreaking.”
