Paulina Tanya Nyström is a Swedish–Finnish forward who plays for BK Häcken in Sweden’s OBOS Damallsvenskan. She represents Finland at senior international level after previously playing youth internationals for Sweden.
She's known by the nickname “Pao.”
She is left-handed, and she links that to why her left foot felt natural early on.
She moved eight hours away from home at 17 to join a project in Ljusdal, living in what she described as a “bubble” with teammates in a small community.
She owns a boot signed by Neymar—after he visited the same hotel as Sweden’s U23 team during a camp in France.
She tried other sports growing up, including hockey.
She is half-Finnish though her mum but grew up in Sweden.
She didn’t eat candy for ten years as part of how seriously she approached her football goals.
She represented Sweden youth teams before switching to Finland senior national team.
