Sophie Hirst is an American former professional football player who most recently played as a midfielder for Portland Thorns FC of the National Women's Soccer League.
She majored in Neuroscience at Harvard.
She was drafted 20th overall by Houston Dash in the 2023 NWSL Draft, becoming only the second Harvard player ever selected in the NWSL Draft.
Dedicated to volunteering, Sophie has worked with the Ronald McDonald House and Coaches Across Continents, focusing on supporting children with cancer and engaging in community service.
Internationally, she represented the U.S. U-16 national team in 2015 and 2016.
In her final season, Hirst helped Harvard advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in nearly a decade.
On vacation in Costa Rica
She jokingly says she has an "emotional support" water bottle.
Away from soccer, she likes outdoors adventures.
In 2025, she announced her retirement from professional football in order to pursue a medical degree at Columbia University.
