Brasileirão Women
Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, commonly known as Palmeiras, is a professional women's association football club based in Vinhedo, São Paulo, Brazil. Founded in 1997, they play in the top tier of women's football in Brazil, the Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol Feminino.
Bruna was still only 17 years old when Palmeiras signed her for the senior squad in 2023, making her one of the youngest players in the first-team group.
Wearing the Brazil shirt was a dream she carried for years; old podcast clips resurfaced after her first call-up showing her talking about how much she wanted to represent Brazil one day.
Poliana turned her football journey into a book called “Senhora Libertadores: dos sonhos às conquistas”, sharing the story behind her rise from a young player in Minas Gerais to becoming one of the most decorated players in Copa Libertadores Femenina history.
Poliana is the only player known to have scored in three different Copa Libertadores Femenina finals, finding the net in championship matches in 2011, 2014 and 2022.
A behind-the-scenes Palmeiras youth feature highlighted that Bruna once played as the only girl in a school tournament, long before reaching professional football.
She helped Atlético Nacional finish third in the 2023 Copa Libertadores Femenina, becoming the first Ecuadorian woman to reach the tournament podium with the Colombian club.
She studied Production Engineering while playing professionally. Her university studies also made her eligible to represent Brazil at the Summer Universiade, where she helped the country win gold.
Before focusing entirely on football, she built an impressive career in futsal. She was named the best women's futsal player in Argentina in 2018 after receiving the Premio Alumni, and she was later nominated for the Futsal Planet Awards.
