Beatriz Zaneratto João is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a forward. She has represented Brazil at youth and senior international level.
Bia started playing football before she even started school, kicking a ball around with her older brother in the streets of Araraquara. Her mother joked that she was "practically a baby" when football became her favorite game.
Her nickname is "Imperatriz" ("The Empress"), a name affectionately given to her by fans in recognition of her leadership, goalscoring ability and influence on the pitch.
A Palmeiras supporter and musician even wrote a song called "Hit da Bia Zaneratto" to celebrate her performances and popularity among the club's fans.
Bia also tried her hand at esports. During the pandemic in 2020, she competed in the charity Copa GamHer FIFA 20 tournament and won the competition in her first appearance.
Bia's father, Aparecido Donizete João, became one of her biggest supporters. He attended local meetings to argue against organizers who wanted to stop her playing in boys' tournaments because she was the only girl.
