Deyna Castellanos is a Venezuelan professional footballer who plays as a forward for Portland Thorns FC and the Venezuela national team.
She started a foundation that encourages gender equality and helps provide football scholarship for South American girls.
She estimates she has about 37 tattoos, a mix of images and phrases.
In Venezuela, she is known as Reina Deyna ("Queen Deyna").
Castellanos' passion for football began at her brother’s training practice at the age of five.
She worked as a studio analyst for NBC and Telemundo at both the 2018 men’s and 2019 women’s FIFA World Cups.
Although she did not have many female role models, she idolized Brazilian legend Marta.
She enjoys painting and drawing in her spare time, as well as dancing.
She has publicly identified as bisexual since the age of 12.
She studied journalism at Florida State University, where she also learned English and became bilingual.
She’s the all-time leading scorer in FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup history (11 goals).
She opted not to join the 2020 NWSL Draft, citing a lack of player autonomy, and instead signed directly with Atlético Madrid.
Off the field, Deyna enjoys family time and watching movies, especially her favourite show, Friends.
She is popular especially in Venezuela, having 1.7M followers on Instagram.
