Jessie Alexandra Fleming is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for National Women's Soccer League club Portland Thorns and captains the Canadian national team.
Growing up, she competed in soccer, hockey, track and field, and cross-country.
She started playing football at the age of three.
She graduated from UCLA in 2021, with a major in materials engineering and a minor in environmental science.
She helped Canada win a historic gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics by scoring in both the final and the penalty shootout.
She always puts the right side of her equipment before the left side.
Her nicknames are Jess and JFlem.
Outside of sports, Jessie enjoys reading.
Growing up, her favourite soccer player was Andrés Iniesta, and her favourite club was FC Barcelona.
She also admired Canadian triathlete Simon Whitfield, legendary runner Steve Prefontaine, and ultrarunner Courtney Dauwalter.
She was a fan of the London Knights hockey team as a kid.
Her favorite subjects in school were Geography and different sciences.
She likes photography, especially with film cameras.
She advocates for LGBTQ+ rights.
