Reyna René Reyes Stubblefield is a professional footballer who plays as a full-back for National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) club Portland Thorns. Born in the United States, Reyes represents Mexico internationally.
Born to a Mexican father and an American mother, Reyes chose to represent Mexico internationally.
She studied financial management at the University of Alabama.
She has played in two FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups—2016 in Jordan and 2018 in Uruguay—earning a silver medal in the latter.
She got her first national team call-up at age 14, playing two years above her age group.
She began playing soccer at age three and was so passionate that her parents often had to drag her off the field.
She once resisted strength training in middle school because she feared gaining muscle would make her look “too bulky,” reflecting pressures many girls face about body image. She now speaks out to empower young girls to ignore stereotypes and embrace their athleticism and strength.
