Luciana Maria Dionizio is a Brazilian goalkeeper who represents Brazil at international level and has played for clubs including Corinthians and Atlético Mineiro, winning multiple national titles with Ferroviária and being part of the Brazil national team.
She became a goalkeeper because she said she did not enjoy running.
Former Brazil goalkeeper Dida was one of her football inspirations because of his calm personality in goal.
Before becoming a national-team player, she balanced long commutes, studies, and training sessions while pursuing football in Belo Horizonte.
Luciana saved three penalties in Ferroviária’s shootout victory over São José in the 2014 Copa do Brasil final.
Luciana has had two different spells with Ferroviária, first joining the club in 2013 before returning again in 2016.
In 2023, she helped Ferroviária reach the Brasileirão Feminino final by saving two penalties in the semifinal against São Paulo.
She also saved penalties in the 2023 Copa Paulista Feminina final, helping Ferroviária win the competition for the first time.
Luciana was part of Brazil’s squad at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
She won a silver medal with Brazil at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
