Olivia Ann Wingate is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for the North Carolina Courage of the National Women's Soccer League.
She is the second of four children in her family.
She began playing soccer at just four years old.
She was also involved in other sports like softball, basketball, and ice hockey growing up.
As a freshman in high school, she led the girls' ice hockey team with about 20 goals in one season.
She overcame a major setback in 2017 when a knee injury from a collision with a goalkeeper kept her out for over a year.
Growing up, Olivia looked up to soccer legends like Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, and Sydney Leroux, many of whom played for her local NWSL team, the Boston Breakers.
Despite her focus on soccer, Olivia is still a massive Boston Bruins fan and remains loyal to Boston-based sports teams.
She has a pre-game ritual of eating a Rice Krispies treat before every match, which she started in her senior year at Notre Dame.
She always wears double braids during games, a habit she started in her sophomore year after being too shy to ask someone to do it for her in her freshman year.
She taught herself how to play the piano and electric guitar, finding joy in learning new instruments even if she's not an expert.
She has a deep love for rock music, influenced by her family’s taste, with Mötley Crüe being one of her favorite bands and "Kickstart My Heart" her go-to pre-game song.
She enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes.
She has a strong desire to stay in the sports world after her playing career ends, possibly through coaching or pursuing a career in physical therapy.
She has a bachelor's degree in Science-Business from the University of Notre Dame.
