Ryan Emilie Williams is an American professional soccer player who plays as a right back for the North Carolina Courage of the National Women's Soccer League.
She started playing soccer at age 4.
She grew up in a family of six children in Colorado.
Her first pro start came in the 2018 Women's ICC Final, helping the Courage beat French giants Lyon.
She was the last pick in the 2018 NWSL Draft, but worked her way up to become a consistent starter and team leader for the North Carolina Courage.
She made history as the first-ever TCU Horned Frog drafted into the NWSL.
In January 2025, she earned her first-ever call-up to the U.S. Women’s National Team—without having played for any youth national teams.
Williams ranked among the NWSL’s best in tackles, challenges, interceptions, and passing attempts in 2024.
Her favorite soccer team in college was Manchester City, and she looked up to U.S. Women’s National Team star Alex Morgan.
She dreams of traveling across Europe someday, especially to Spain.
If she could choose any superpower, she would want the ability to read minds, because she finds it fascinating that people don’t always say what they’re thinking.
She has three dogs.
She fuels up for games by drinking coffee and eating chocolate chip cookie dough protein bars and pancakes every morning of a game day.
