Mawa comes from Drammen, and even as a teenager she had a very clear ambition: "I want to become a football player." Coaches and local media described her as one of the city's brightest young talents long before she reached the top division.
She developed through the youth systems of Hyggen, Fjell and Skiold before joining the newly established Strømsgodset women's team in 2021.
In May 2023, Mawa suffered a devastating ACL injury that ruled her out for more than 500 days. Despite the setback, she remained optimistic, saying she believed she would return stronger.
She helped VĂĄlerenga win the 2024 Norwegian league title and qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League group stage for the first time in the club's history.
She represented Norway at the 2022 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship, establishing herself as one of the country's most promising young forwards.
Mawa says she has always dreamed of playing abroad. Joining AC Milan fulfilled that ambition, and she hopes her journey encourages more young Norwegian girls to believe they can build careers outside Norway.
