#2 - Forward

Sydney Rae Leroux is a Canadian-born American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Angel City FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL).

Did You Know?

She played for Canada at youth levels before switching to represent the U.S. in 2008, fulfilling a childhood dream.
Her father, Ray Chadwick, was a pro pitcher for the California Angels, and her mother, Sandi, played third base for Canada鈥檚 national softball team.
She played Little League baseball for 10 years before fully committing to soccer.
At age 13, Leroux and her mother got serious about her chances at becoming a professional footballer and set their sights on the USA. They approached her father, an American who split when her mother was two months pregnant, about signing her birth certificate so Leroux could be awarded dual citizenship. Soon after, she moved to Seattle to focus on her dream.
At just 14 years old, she earned her first tattoo鈥攁 flaming tribal soccer ball on her back鈥攁fter scoring 14 goals at nationals and winning a bet with her mom, though she later had it covered up and is relieved no photos of it exist.
She played alongside Hope Solo, Megan Rapinoe, and Alex Morgan for Seattle Sounders Women in 2012.
She married English-born MLS player Dom Dwyer in 2015 and divorced him six years later.
She has two children with him - Cassius and Roux.
She returned to NWSL play just 3 months after giving birth to her second child in 2019.
Her nickname is "Syd the Kid."
Her Chihuahua, named Boss Leroux, became a media sensation with thousands of Twitter followers.
She received a key to New York City alongside her teammates and was honored at the White House by President Barack Obama in 2015.
She co-hosts the BFFR podcast together with Angel City teammate Ali Riley.
An outspoken advocate for mental health, Leroux took a step back from professional soccer in 2025 to focus on her well-being, emphasizing the importance of self-care.
