Lara Schmidt is a German footballer who plays as a defender for Frauen-Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.
She started playing football in 2005 at the age of 5 with FC Cleeberg.
She was coached for three years by her father, Wolfgang Schmidt, a club legend at FC Cleeberg.
She played 21 matches in a boys’ U15 team (TSG Gießen-Wieseck) and won the Hessen Championship in 2016.
She lives near Bremen’s stadium and is simultaneously working on her master’s thesis alongside pro football.
She became team’s top scorer in winter 2024–25—even as a defender—scoring three different types of goals: right-foot, left-foot, and header.
