Lilli Purtscheller is an Austrian footballer who plays as a midfielder for German Frauen-Bundesliga club SGS Essen.
She trained at the Austrian Football Federation’s Women’s Academy in St. Pölten.
She was runner-up in the Austrian Planet Pure Women’s Bundesliga with SK Sturm Graz in 2021/22.
Lilli was voted the 3rd best player of the 2022/23 Austrian Women’s Bundesliga season.
She placed 3rd in the Austrian Footballer of the Year 2024 award.
After tearing the ACL in her right knee in 2022, she tore the left one in June 2025.
Despite two ACL injuries, her motto is still “Come back stronger.” She believes she can return just as successfully as after her first injury.
She started playing football in kindergarten just to spend more time with her two best friends.
She didn’t come to football through family — her brothers are “completely unsporty.”
She didn’t have one single football idol, but watching players like Sarah Puntigam and Laura Feiersinger inspired her generation.
Her ultimate football dream is to compete in a European Championship or World Cup.

Besides football, she is studying to become a teacher, focusing on German and nutrition.
