Rieke Dieckmann is a German footballer who plays as a midfielder for Frauen-Bundesliga club Werder Bremen.
She was part of Germany’s U‑20 World Cup–winning squad in 2014, playing six matches in the process as one of the tournament’s youngest starters.
During her time at Potsdam, she experienced regular benching—which she calls mentally draining—but the loan to Twente was a “jackpot,” reigniting her love for the game as she helped the team win the league.
She pursued a second bachelor’s in Health Sciences alongside football.
She comes from Bissendorf, a small village in Lower Saxony, Germany. She played football on a bumpy churchyard field growing up.
Until the U15 level, she played exclusively on boys' teams.
To unwind, she likes to keep active every day. She’s into swimming, hiking, cycling, and tennis.
In the winter, she loves skiing.
Her favorite color is grey.
Her motto is: “Enthusiasm elevates life above the mundane and gives it meaning in the first place.” (Norman Vincent Peale)
She says she doesn't aim to stay in professional football long-term—because for her, football is passion, not her whole identity.
